| Name: | Chrono//Chrno |

Series: Chrno Crusade
Version: Manga version, it differs from the anime after a bit. REALLY differs.
Age: Really unknown exactly. He's been out of Pandemonium/Hell/Devil birth place layer for about 55 years. But devils and the like don't really have a life expectancy rate or anything and god knows how long he lived in Pandemonium before leaving. So 55 plus! I guess the rest I will explain in the appearance part. That may help :D~
Gender: Male!
Sexuality: N/A?
Appearance:
He's got two forms. Because one just isn't good enough these days.
The form he is mostly in gives him the appearance of a kid. Probably no more than 13 or so. He's got long purple hair with bangs and he keeps it in a braid with a yellow... ribbon at the bottom. I know, he sounds like quite the scary beast, right? He has red eyes and wears a sort of head band around his head which is also red! He's coming from the mid 1920s mind you so shorts with suspenders are a go along with a red jacket with long triangular tips at the end. Other than that he wears black leggings, god knows why. Socks or something, shoes, yada yada. This is too much info. I understand. Oh. Inner fingerless gloves of sorts and a white shirt thing. Also, he's a devil. Like I said~ If this sounds too natural don't forget he has tiny pointed ears.
That form that I just explained is really just to preserve any astral (life energy) he possesses. In his true form, back off he actually might look threatening. His height for one is doubled and he doesn't look like some harmless little kid anymore. His hair isn't long and obnoxious but short. Though he has a sort of bone like spine thing he uses as a spear of sorts when attacking people. I doubt it's his hair or his actual spine but regardless he uses it like a whip. He has a darker jacket as well but pft, no shirt. What kind of bad ass devil wears t-shirts? LUCKILY! He has pants. But besides that the most noticeable features about him are his now HUGE pointed ears. Along with his scary red eyes, 3 random triangular dots on his forehead? And oh, yeah wings. But the difference between Chrono and other devils is he lacks horns, his power source and way of gaining more astral energy. No astral energy means dead devil.
Personality:
Not all devils are bad just like not all humans are kind, loving, or caring. Chrono as a "Sinner" is a higher level devil than your run off the mill "Pursuers". He can think on his own and have doubts. Blood, gore, and a love for killing isn't all he thinks about compared to some.
He's very caring and tries to help anyone he can. Chrono knows right from wrong and how to deal with it. Because of the shit that happened to him in the past he hates just sitting and watching other people get hurt or killed. He's decided that if he could he would have to do something to prevent it-anything. This often leaves him as a moving target and meat shield.
When it comes to his bff Rosette it's a little different. He cares about her, not just because she's his life supply but as a friend. But that also means he's got to look out for her and Rosette is rather ... rash. She's commonly called a tornado and gets in trouble a LOT. Chrono is normally the one who apologizes for her. He also tries to warn her ahead of time too but she doesn't listen, ever! Rosette's probably the only one Chrono will be sarcastic with and scold. But he also listens and tries to do whatever she says. He'll whine about it but he won't argue much. He owes her a great deal, you know~
But now I've made him out to be a pansy. Let's say that isn't always the case. For example Don't EVER put this kid in a tight corner, he bites. Hurt his Contractor? He'll break you and most of the time he won't even realize what he's done until he snaps out of it. He IS a devil, despite his common appearance of kind words and cute smiles. He does lose his self when things look bad and he'll lash out on anything that moves. He never really... means to though it just happens. When he does snap out of his rampages: CUE GUILT TRIP! Because most of the time by going bonkers he's released the seal and sucked out more of Rosette's soul by doing so. On top of that something was bound to have their head cut off as well. Not. Good.
He actually feels a lot of guilt. And often goes into lala land when he thinks about all the bad stuff he did or... failed to do. He's got a big heart and a lot of issues up there but he isn't one to tell his life story. It's not their business why should they worry hmn? Besides! He's a devil. Before Rosette came his immediate opinion was that all humans DESPISED devils. They wanted them gone and extinct. They feared them and ran scared. Rosette, Joshua and... Magdalene 50 years before were the only ones that pretty much went HEY, WHAT'S UP? I'm so-and-so WANT A COOKIE? I'm not kidding about the cookie part on one end. Point is he's used to people going AAAAAAAH MONSTER! But that doesn't mean he likes hearing it. Though, he's not one to deny it either. It's the truth and he's not one to lie, ever. He's a little too honest, actually. And will put himself down saying Yeah I'm a devil, if you want to go I'm not stopping you sort of concept.
But he's mostly happy and tries to keep others happy-I SWEAR.
Abilities/Weaponry:
In his smaller form he's pretty useless. He'll normally try to push people out of the way in fights. Run around as a meat shield and if needed, he'll try to grab the closest sharp object and attempt to fight back. Normally it ends up as some daggers or a sword but really whatever works. Most of the time he's carrying Rosette's supplies of guns and sacred bullets but he doesn't know how to shoot one of those guns let alone CAN HE shoot. He's a devil so touching some sacred gun is not going to happen. But regardless huge cuts and not so happy wounds are nothing for a devil and Chrono normally takes advantage of this and occasionally loses a limb... or two (About 3 times in the manga's entirety?). He's got that mindset of 'Tis but a scratch.
However! When the seal is released things are a little different. Super strength, speed you name it. He can freeze time, teleport things, super healing, fly~ His powers are rather immense and the reader never really gets the whole gist of things. He still uses daggers and the like along with that spine like thing to hit people with. He also packs a good punch. This guy's pretty hard to take down.
Weaknesses:
Rosette, Rosette, uhhh holy things like water and such. Rosette..? Yep I think that's about it. He also has a bit of pride you can toy with if you want to get the bad side out of him. Don't diss his friends.. yo. Or... you be trippin' up. >\ Whut.
History:
55 years prior to where the series begins was when Chrono, Aion and a few other devils hopped out of Pandemonium for one reason; "freedom" and the ability to kill off Pandemonium who is the mother of Aion and Chrono. That's right, it's not a happy shocker but Aion and Chrono are indeed brothers. In fact, Pandemonium was once a normal human woman. She was kidnapped by devils while she was pregnant with her twin boys, Chrono and Aion. Thus causing her unborn children to become devils along with their mother. Pandemonium is also the name of the devils nest and is held together by... Pandemonium. Confusing, I know. They don't really explain it that well either so I'm kind of winging this part.
Chrono was once on Aion's side along with some other helpful devils, Rizel, Shader, Viede, Genai. Back then Chrono was called and considered Aion's blade. He followed him without much question. He killed a whole lot for him and blindly obeyed his whim. Chrono in reality hated that aspect. He didn't want to ever hurt anyone but Aion ordered it and he was the master planner of the group. Chrono never even considered the idea of rebellion. Actually to prove how blindly loyal he was, in order for the group to leave Pandemonium and kill her they had to get passed practically an army of 100 other sinners who were strong and high in rank. Chrono obliterated them all with hardly a scratch leaving the six, including Aion and Chrono, as the only and last sinners.
After they escaped and had stolen Pandemonium's head, it went missing and had fallen to Earth. The remaining six sinners couldn't find the head on their own and they required a bit of help. They certainly couldn't fly around the U.S. That would attract too much attention both for the local humans who hadn't a clue what was going on and the devils after their traitor skins. So they decided to grab or rather kidnap some help. Chrono executed this plan and kidnapped no other than the Holy Saint of sorts herself! Lady Magdalene. Magdalene had a special power that allowed her to see the future, past and present from anywhere and everywhere. She was perfect for finding their target with ease.
So Chrono visited her, more like barged in, asked her to come and she surprisingly agreed without any arguments. In fact she helped them escape from the Magdalene Order, who had been keeping Magdalene safe and protected since she was a child.
After the kidnapping Magdalene quickly helped her captors locate Pandemonium's head. Naturally the group rejoiced and were very pleased with Magdalene's extreme cooperation. So instead of killing the little human girl they took her with them to Eden, their ship in the sky that was used as their base. There they planned to extract the memories from Pandemonium so that they could figure out an easier way to kill her.
While Magdalene stayed with the sinners on Eden she got to know them more and more, especially Chrono. Chrono was normally the silent kind then, he did what he was told and just nodded when people spoke to him. But Magdalene actually made him think. She'd ask him questions and tell him things people normally wouldn't bother him with. They all really were getting along and Chrono seemed to be even falling for Magdalene.
But pfffft, when does everything stay HAPPY? After the memory data from Pandemonium was finally put together things went extremely haywire. Pandemonium's head began to attack the sinners. Wounds made from Pandemonium's wrath onto sinners can't be healed, by the way so the over all damage was tremendous and some of the remaining sinners gained large disabilities from the battle. The group managed to get rid of Pandemonium's head with Magdalene's help but Pandemonium still existed and now they were out of luck for gaining her memory data.
A few days later Aion noticed something fishy about Magdalene. He stayed quiet but not for long. Because of the incident with Pandemonium, Magdalene had gained all of Pandemonium's memories due to her all-seeing power. So now the only thing to do was to remove Magdalene's head so that they could gain the memories that had thought were lost.
Before Aion issued the order to kill Magdalene, her and Chrono had a strange chat. She told Chrono the reasons as to why she had easily agreed to come with them and the like. Apparently she had envisioned Chrono killing her and rather than fighting fate she decided she wanted to get to know her murderer. Weirdo, right? Chrono was upset by this. He cared for this girl and now she was telling him he was to kill her. Chrono was convinced there was another way. He had finally figured out by this time that he was against killing and wanted to change what he could.
Just then, however, Aion ordered Chrono to kill Magdalene. Chrono argued with Aion asking if there was another way to gain Pandemonium's memories without having to sacrifice Magdalene. Aion was pissed. How dare his loyal little minion argue with him! The two of them fought causing Chrono's horns to be ripped off and him and Magdalene falling down to the earth from Eden.
Without his horns Chrono was gonna die, so Magdalene made a contract with him in order to save his life. Chrono was really out of it and had no bloody clue what she was talking about so he agreed to it easily. But it wasn't long after that the 5 other sinners were after the two of them. Chrono decided that he would take Magdalene back to the Order and hoped they could find a way to help them. Although during their travels to head back to the Order Aion caught up with them and pretty much killed Magdalene with a marvelous blow to the stomach. Chrono managed to attack Aion and keep him away enough but despite that Magdalene died in Chrono's arms. D:~
Once Magdalene died Chrono wasn't sure what to do with himself so he decided to chill next to Magdalene's grave for 50 years.
After his 50 year long beauty sleep in his little room of woe next to Magdalene's grave, he was greeted by two REALLY weird human kids. No one was supposed to get into the tomb so it baffled Chrono as to how the two little buggers could have managed it. But that wasn't the weird part. He told them to leave and that it was a tomb. He introduced himself as a devil and suggested they leave, humans were supposed to be scared of devils so he figured these two would leave if he nudged them a little. But while he was trying to stand and shoo them off he felt a little faint, a 50 year long nap will do that to you, ya' know? The kids got a little worried and offered him food. What? Well, Chrono was never told that taking candy from strangers was a bad thing so he thanked them for the food and they all introduced themselves. The boy was named Joshua and the girl was Rosette. They talked a while and Joshua flaunted over Chrono with excitement about how cool it was meeting A REAL LIVE DEVIL~!! Chrono was confused but figured the kids were just warm-hearted and really naïve. No harm in that, right?
Rosette and Joshua continued to visit Chrono frequently and they learned a bit about each other every time. Chrono would tell them stories of his little adventures and the other two would talk about themselves a little too. They were orphans that lived at a near by orphanage. They were siblings, Rosette was the elder one by a year and they wanted to become explorers one day but Joshua was a bit sickly because of a strange power he had. All of this was a decent change for Chrono and the two kids really didn't seem so bad so he didn't mind spending time with them.
BUT HA! Good times don't last more than 2 chapters in this series.
For a while before the Magdalene Order had heard of Joshua's unique power and was avidly seeking his agreement to join the Order. Rosette didn't want to be apart from her brother so she constantly tried to keep him out of the orphanage any time one of the ministers from the Order visited. But one day while Joshua was sick in bed the minister came to visit and Joshua agreed to go in hopes that he would become stronger and would no longer be sickly. Rosette was a little torn by this and ran to Chrono for support of some kind. When she arrived Chrono was really confused. He had never seen Rosette that upset before and normally this girl was always smiling and in high spirits. But before Rosette could explain much about the situation the two were visited by an old friend of Chrono's.
The old friend was no other than Aion who was trying to persuade Chrono to rejoin them in exchange for Chrono's horns. As I said before, horns are key to a devil's survival and strength and without them the devil can easily spend their remaining astral energy away very quickly. Despite that, Chrono refused Aion's offer. He was done with mindlessly killing others and he wasn't about to revert back. But ha, Aion totally saw that one coming and shrugged off Chrono's refusal while telling him he had found another user for Chrono's horns, Joshua. This was bad news. Human KID + devil's horns = asdfghjkl;, to put it simply.
Chrono and Rosette rushed back to the orphanage in hopes of saving Joshua from making a BIG mistake but it was too late. Joshua had gone bonkers and was using Chrono's horns to freeze the others living in the orphanage. Chrono and Rosette got away from Joshua's immediate wrath but Rosette didn't want to give up just yet. Only problem was Chrono had spent up a lot of his astral energy just trying to fly them to the orphanage and save Joshua, causing him to become terribly weak. But he wasn't going to just let Rosette go by herself and he knew he couldn't persuade her to stay. They were Chrono's horns and his responsibility so naturally Chrono wanted to help. So he brought up the idea of a contract. But even so, he greatly was against the idea and warned her of the consequences and how it would be taking away from her astral energy. Although, Rosette was persistent and finally Chrono agreed and the contract was made.
But even with the contract established they were still out of luck. Joshua was taken by Aion and the two were left searching for him. Luckily, the Magdalene Order arrived in time and Father Remington offered Rosette a chance to join the Order, become stronger, and hopefully with her new support and gained abilities, find her brother.
Within the Order, Rosette gained the skills she needed to fight devils as well as how to control the pocket watch seal that was used to control the amount of her soul that was given to Chrono when it was in use. The pocket watch was given to Chrono right before Magdalene's death by Shader, one of the six remaining sinners. The pocket watch itself is used as a Gate so that the human giving their soul to the devil doesn't give it all away at once but rather whenever the seal on the pocket watch is broken.
The Order themselves never thought highly of Chrono who acted as Rosette's constant assistant and partner. Devils aren't supposed to be in a holy Order so naturally there was always some tension. But Chrono always accepted their doubts in his loyalty and worked to prove he was capable of being just as sane as everyone else and had no intention of betraying them.
After four years—and meeting a girl named Azmaria with similar powers to those that Joshua had—they finally heard reports of Joshua being spotted in San Francisco. Rosette jumped at the idea of finally being able to find her brother and eagerly trained to receive a higher rank so that she, Chrono and Azmaria could investigate Joshua's sighting on their own. While traveling across the entirety of the U.S. they met Satella, a bounty hunter Jewel Witch. At first Satella was annoyed by Rosette's obnoxious and open behavior and didn't trust Chrono even for a moment but once they found out they had similar goals and issues (Satella was searching for the hornless devil that killed her family) they decided to work together.
During the journey they were attacked every so often by sinners and pursuers. They managed with a few injuries along the way but always got right back on track. Eventually they arrived in San Fransisco which happened to be having a carnival going on. The four decided they could really use some relaxation after such a lame journey but as always, things never go as planned.
Aion and Joshua were waiting for them.
